[SOLVED] HP updated; now I can't fix my screen resolution!

The HP update installed something called AGEIA and ever since then, my screen resolution has made things bigger than they should. My resolution is currently at 1280 x 768, but it should be at 1280 x 1024. However, when I attempt to change it, my monitor informs me that the display is out of range and system restore has been unable to fix the damage due to an unknown error, no matter which restore point I use. I've attempted to uninstall AEGIA, but parts of it still linger and of course I've done virus checks. I've also restarted my computer multiple times and tried to change the resolution, but nothing. Also, due to this update, the volume on my monitor speakers is louder than it should and my screen flickers once when it gets to the Welcome screen and usually twice when it gets to the desktop.

I'm tempted to delete something called NVIDIA driver as I don't recognize it, but according to my computer, it's been on my hard drive since last year and according to the internet (if I interpreted the information correctly) I actually need it for my GUI. Please help!

EDIT: I attempted to change the resolution with the NVIDIA control panel and it will only allow changing it to 1280 x 1024 using 70 Hz instead of 60Hz, which my monitor requires.

It took restoring my computer to factory default, but the problem is now fixed. Good thing I keep backups of everything. :D
