STOP: 0x0000008E

Hi,

I recently started experiencing a random BSOD about every 30 minutes while my laptop is running. The Error I get is as follows:

STOP: 0x0000008E (0xC0000006, 0x8c4B9706, 0xA9EA251C, 0x00000000)

amm8660.sys - Address 8C4B9706 base at 8C4B3000, Date Stamp 46667CE0

I started experiencing this when I accidentally enabled bluetooth on my laptop, and as a result the computer automatically started installing the drivers for it. I halted the process in the middle of this and as a result have been getting a BSOD since. I did a lot of searching around and found that this could also get this STOP error from the haxdoor virus, but that seems to apply to XP more. However, I did notice that when I do a scan with ad-aware it will cause a BSOD at a certain time throughout the scan and it seems like its the same point in the scan each time. I'm not exactly computer savy so if you need any additional information please don't hesitate to ask and perhaps include in the post as to where I can get the information for you.

Thanks again for your time.

Re: STOP: 0x0000008E

Nevermind, I found the problem. I google'd amm8660.sys and its an anti-maleware software driver that comes with panda antivirus program and for some reason was crashing my comp. I uninstalled it and everything is working great.

Hi JTwiss21. . .

Great work on locating the driver origin, hence the probable cause of your BSOD.

Dependant upon system configuration and installed software, some products like Panda can conflict with other drivers.

Good Luck to you.
