Windows Crashing (over and over)

Hi All,

I hope that this is not a repeat topic (I did look and couldn't find it easily), so here goes.

My wife is running Vista (SP 1 I think, she just bought it about a month ago) and now wants to move over the files from her old box. The master is a SATA drive, and her old drive is an IDE. I pulled the old HD from her old box, pullled the jumper to make it a slave drive, and put it in the new box. Upon booting, Widows runs through the bios procedure and reaches the "We're sorry, Windows didn't start properly last time....." screen. Oddly enough, it did this the very first time I booted the with the added drive. None of the options (including safe mode) will boot.

Now it gets interesting. On my desktop (XP, SP2), one more time I forgot and I attempted to install SP3. Upon successfully install SP3, same story, other than sometimes the "Windows loading" screen will flash for about a quarter second before it crashes.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Peter
