Re: Installing - unable to detect HD
i have asus maximus formula x38 with vista 64 home premium, ide mode is the best to pick for mine (wd raptor x), ahci is an absolute git to work, but i got it working by installing vista in ide mode then installing the ahci drivers in vista operating system ,your sata controller probably is in another subsection in bios, on mine its under devices configuration, could be a similar option on yours

Re: Installing - unable to detect HD
I have "Integrated Periphials" (I think I butchered that spelling, but I hope you get the point) and have the options there, I have tried using IDE mode, and still the drive refuses to show up in the Vista installation, despite the fact that the BIOS recognizes the device.

Native is enabled in bios (y)? booting off cd drive you press * boot off dvd rom drive.. then the Vista disk does not find the HD correct? 1 of 2 options the HD has not been formated / or try another dvd rom drive. |

Re: Installing - unable to detect HD
Yes, I boot from the CD/DVD drive, and it does not recognize it. The drive has to be formatted? That I did not know, I'll try that next (any suggestions on best way to go around doing it? I've never built a new machine before from scratch, so this is some new territory for me)
