Quote sieger007 Replybullet Topic: SATA DRIVER W/ VISTA recovery console is all I got

Hi Folks
I have a C2d HP NC6320 Notebook and ran into the infamous SATA Drivers problem. That is XP/Vista Do not support SATA Drivers and you have to load them at boot time externally. For XP I was lucky to make a SLIPSTREAMED boot DVD with Latest SATA DRIVERS IN THERE ( Version 8.0.x from Inter.com ) for Chipset 945GM Express ( C2D T2400 1.7Mhz ) and it worked well.
Now I tried the same approach when I tried to install a Vista on a Dual boot but it failed.

* Attempt 1 : I tried to use the same software N-lite for Vista w/ the last Intel SATA Drivers and it failed at a later point. I got past initial phase. Vista could see my partition and I installed in there. It came to the GUI Point and rebooted but on reboot instead of starting up normally it would restart. Safe Mode also restarts.
* Attempt 2: Tried to Do f6 load prev SATA driver version from intel ( V 7.0.x ) from another vista cd that did not have SATA driver. It identified my HDD as unknown and could not see partitions.
* Attempt 3: Disabled SATA Mode and did regular install. I could get in Non SATA BIOS Mode and Safe Mode in Windows and forced it to accept the SATA driver ( tried version 5 and 7 ) , and changed BIOS back to SATA -> Reboots normally . I can get in via Safe Mode.
* Part of same attempt tried to change the Primary IDE and Seconday IDE drivers in Dev Manager to some other SATA Driver and NOW I AM SCREWED COMPLETELY. It will just REBOOT IN ANY MODE -SATA/NON SATA even w/ Windows Safe Mode. CANT JUST GET IN.

Questions

* I have recovery console installed and was wondering if I could restore previous state from Recovery console for the Device manager to drivers mapping so at least I can get in safe mode and try out more tweaks
* Alternatively I have a running XP partition. IS THERE ANY FILE OUT THERE in Vista that says here is the driver path for this device.I thought If I can replace that w/ the XP one and manually add the same drivers and config as in XP it might work.

Thanks
