hd space gone after restart

Well I've noticed every time i turn off my computer and then turn it on in the morning the c drive memory goes down. I have kept an eye on it for the past week while deleting useless things but nothing seems to help. Do yall have any advice? tell me what I need to tell you to help me out, thanks. Do I need to do hijack this or something?

This is my first time ever using this forum.

Also, if this helps, I have daily scans with AVG and a weekly spybot s&d scan and no problems have been detected

Re: hd space gone after restart

Hi,
Welcome to TSF.

With Vista, each day it will save a System Restore point until it reaches the maximum of 15% of your drive. This is most likely what you are seeing. You can remove all but the latest by going to disk cleanup. Unless your drive is really small, I wouldn't worry about it. You can also set the maximum storage size allocated to system restore.

Re: hd space gone after restart

Yesterday I had 86.2 GB left and today when i turned it on I have 84.7 GB left, I've done disk cleanup but it freed up no space.. Is it something to worry about?

Re: hd space gone after restart

In disk cleanup did you select the More Options tab? Here it lets you cleanup the restore points.
I wouldn't worry at this point. Once the 15% get used up, Vista will remove the oldest restore ponts to make room for the new ones and no more disk space will be used.
