I have a new computer with Vista and all updates. I'm on a private (home) network with one other computer running xp. With the firewall on the Vista machine on I cannot access the local libraries card catalog url. With the firewall turned off I can access the libraries card catalog url. This is true on both machines, with the vista firewall on neither computer can access the url but with the firewall off both can access the url.
I guess the question is can I set the vista machine's firewall to allow me to access certain web sites and if so how? I guess you can tell I'm new to vista and a little frustrated. Thanks for any help.

you can put the url in exceptions
right click on the icon in the tray and go to the security centre
click on windows firewall on the left
then in the new box on the left
allow a program through the firewall
