Blocked startup function not configurable
Windows Defender and it's balloon tip, system tray icon that loads at startup saying it's stopped start up items is doing my nut. It always tells you it's stopped programs from starting so you have to close the balloon tip every time in my experience, you can't set it to not show again!?
I've configured my startup items myself in MSCONFIG which actually lists them all and allows configuring. Yet it itself, System Configuration Utility it's called, is blocked by Windows, lol, how ironic. I told Windows to stop startup items, and Windows, stops the Windows utility which is supposed to do so. When I try to configure it to allow this System Configuration Utility to start (when you right click the system tray item) it's not configurable, from oddly, permitted status. What to do? |

Re: Blocked startup function not configurable
Hey, i've had the same (annoying) problem with msconfig and it went away after a few restarts... (without having opened msconfig again) i'm sure theres a checkbox in some window (if you click the bubble) that says "Don't tell me again"... you could always use a program like EasyCleaner to rid of start up items instead or just modify the registry directly(don't advise this though, it can be dangerous...)... you could also check the registry keys (can't remeber them but they're googleable) for startup items and see if msconfig is there (i can't remember wether its actually msconfig that shows the balloon tip)...
Cheers, Jamey |

Re: Blocked startup function not configurable
Ah, clicking the system tray item, selecting run program, gives an option to the effect of always run, and don't tell me again. So you dont need to go into the main start up configurer in Windows Defender, which it seems just doesn't allow configuration lol.
