explorer.exe freezing frequently.

Hello,

Firstly I'd like to apologise if this isn't in the correct forum, I believe that vista problems is most probably the most logical option for my problem.

My explorer.exe often freezes and sometimes disappears, normally when it freezes I click it repeatedly for the restart box to appear and that normally does the trick, but I would like to have to no do this all the time. I will follow on after stating my problem with all the information about my laptop that you require. I have a touch pad on my laptop which enables me to "Quickplay" a DVD with all the play/pause/stop buttons and it also has volume control options. I have found that the majority of the time that it is when I have changed the volume that the explorer.exe freezes, but it hasn't been like this from the beginning, so I do no believe that this is the real reason behind the problem.

Here is all the information I suspect would help you in identifying my problem.

Manufacturer: Hwelett-Packard
Model: HP Pavillion dv6799ee Notebook PC
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T9300 @ 2.50GHz
Memory (RAM): 2.00GB
System type: 32-bit Operating System
OS: Vista SP1

I have had the laptop for around 3-4 months.

hope this helps! thanks

Re: explorer.exe freezing frequently.

Have you updated the drivers?

When you say explorer freezes, does that mean you can bring up task manager via ctrl+alt+del?

If so, bring up Task manager, goto processes, right click explorer and hit the Create Dump File option. Zip up the dump it creates and send it over.

Re: explorer.exe freezing frequently.

Hey,

I created the dump and zipped it up, but its still at a hefty 78.6 MB.

Could you recommend somewhere I could upload it for you?

Re: explorer.exe freezing frequently.

I'd like to bump this thread as the error still occurs.
