Vista Logon & Account Name Issues
Hi
Using the following path, I've recently changed my Vista laptop logon screen via the following path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System\dontdisplaylastusername Previously, it provided the icon with username, requesting only the password. Now I am able to enter both my username and password. I do, however, have a confusing problem. Despite giving the account a username of 'Tom.Smith', the computer will only accept the original computer name of 'TS' as my username. I sat for hours trying to figure out why i could not log on to the machine, until i finally remember it's original name. This makes no sense, as the 'TS' computer name is not mentioned anywhere else. Furthermore, when attempting to type in new usernames (all with administrator accounts), it will not recognise them. Can you please let me know if there is a bug with Vista, or if I am doing something very, very wrong? I have never has a problem changing the logon details of XP machines, but Vista seems to be a whole new can of worms. I've read various peoples' problems, but haven't found this specific issue yet, hence my question. Thanks. |
