Computer Slow Down ( Vista System)

Hi i have a very general problem and i think its hard to pin point.
Acer Aspire 3100 Laptop
I have Windows Home Basic SP1
2 Gb RAM
harddrives almost empty
AMD Sempron 1.8Ghz

Ok , here is my problem. I just did a system restore back to factory thing to.

Starting about two weeks ago. No matter what i am doing , i can be playing a computer game online, or offline , i can even just be in Photoshop . My computer will run 100 percent fine. then a few minutes after running any program , it will just slow down or chug.
its hard to discribe . But i can even be on firefox and it will just slowdown. Not the internet , but the computer itself.

One example is, ill play couter striker with 100 FPS.
Then it will go down to 5 FPS for about 2 minutes
then it will go back to 100FPS and it will do this repeatedly.

So it runs all the programs fine , then it slows down , then it goes back to normal , like every couple minutes. I have barely any processes running.

If anyone one has any idea what can be wrong, then please let me know.

TIA

Re: Computer Slow Down ( Vista System)

I use to have a acer aspire 5600 (?) anyway, i would play dota with a couple buddies once awhile. dota = WC3 incase u didnt know. Every maybe 10-20 minutes i would get these horrible slow downs. frames would drop to 5 and sometimes the game would just freeze up for a few seconds. I never really pinpointed the problem but it seemed like a combo of a shitty intergrated vid card and poor cooling. Try to keep the fan area as clear as possible so no air is getting blocked. I bought a cheap usb laptop cooler that seemed to help a lil bit, but i would still get them everyonce awhile.
