Question sound problem with mobo/vista

I own a P5N-D motherboard with Realtek ALC883 built in. I have installed all updated drivers and everything works on the new build, however, the sound goes through some issues while in games. I currently only own two speakers which are plugged into the green standard speaker out port. While playing games like Crysis and Starcraft, music and general sound effects work fine, just as they should. But speech of units in Starcraft, and characters in Crysis is so low it is inaudible over the music and other action. This happens even when music and action sounds are turned down and speech is turned up to maximum. I have found no solution with several hours of tweaking and experimentation. Any help would be appreciated.

For other reference if needed:
Motherboard: Asus P5N-D
Graphics: 2 XFX 8600s in SLI
CPU: Q6600 2.4 Core 2 Quad
RAM: 2 gb Corsair 800 mhz
Disk Drive: Lite ON PATA DVDRW
HDD: Seagate 250 GB with two drive Paritions
