I have 2 HDDs, Vista home premium is on a WD500gig HDD and I also have a 230gig HDD which I want to install XP pro on. What is the best procedure to do this?

Re: adding XP pro 32bit
When during Xp pro install it asks if you are upgrading or doing a fresh install does it give you the option to choose which HDD to install it to?

Re: adding XP pro 32bit
its part of the install process. Its one of the first screens. Just place the cd into the drive and boot.
however as with anything you do on your computer, backup any files you cannot afford to lose - just in case.

Re: adding XP pro 32bit
1 final question, during install it will ask which hard drive to install to? I am sorry if this is redundunt questioning but I just want to be sure. I also own Vista Home Premium retail version because I wanted to eventually try out their 64bitthat I got microsoft to send me.

Re: adding XP pro 32bit
I tried this morning to install XP and got to the point where it asks where to install it to but it does not show the 2nd HDD where I wish to install it to. Any ideas as to why and how to overcome it? Would it work to unhook my Vista HDD and just install to the other?

Instead, create a second partion on your first HDD and install it on that. Then use something like OSL2000 to dual boot. Easy as ABC. |

Both my HDD's are sata and I've had no problem using either. I got a program called gparted but can't figure out how to start it. It downloaded as a tar.biz2 file, do you know how to use it? actual name is gparted-0.3.7tar.biz. I think I am going to reinstall everything starting with Vista which will go on the 500gig HDD and then the XP pro on the 160gig HDD. what is the best procedure to do this?
