double click on explorer folder opens a new folder

hello all,
like the title says, when i try to open a folder, it opens a new window instead in the same window. can anybody help me?
help would be appreciated. (sorry for my english)

Hi. Welcome to TSF.

Open Control Panel, double-click Folder Options and select the General tab. Select the Open each folder in the same window option and click OK.

Did you restart the computer after performing the steps? Something, even though it's not required, a restart fixes the problem.

How confident are you in editing the registry?

Back up your registry first, then try the following.

Find: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell
Type NONE in the File data box

Click OK then exit.

. I did a system restore too but there are no changes..

That's weird.

Is this a recent problem?

Also, could you try creating a new user account and checking if this happens with it to? (this is to determine if the issue is windows related or application related)

I have made new account and the problem was gone. But I want to use my current account

And yes, this problem started about 2 weeks ago, 3 days before I installed SP1. (sorry for the double post)

Is SP1 the only thing you've installed? If so, try a system restore or try uninstalling SP1 to see if it fixes the problem.
