Re: Blue screen problems, constant crashes!

Hi Aiden. . .

The first item that I noticed in the logs is that the application Age of Conan hangs. This does not appear to be connected with the BSOD at this time - just beware of this. Check in with WERcon for more info.

Latest dump:
BugCheck A, {fc, 2, 0, 81cb3c78} - in the dump I do see a nvidia driver present - nvstor.sys Sat Dec 23 11:07:25 2006 as well as these two in the memory address surrounding - atapi.sys Fri Jan 18 22:01:56 2008 and volmgrx.sys Thu Nov 02 04:51:54 2006. Then the faultering module ntkrpamp.exe Tue Oct 23 21:45:00 2007 is listed.

As far as SP1 is concerned. . . if it is listed in Windows Updates go ahead and install it. PLEASE - first thing... make a new restore point via System Restore. It should do this automatically; however, experience tells me that it may not. I encountered a very bizarre situation last week on this particular laptop - a Fujitsu Lifebook A6030 - that was taken down by the installation of Vista SP1 and I was left with no other recourse than to re-install Vista. Somehow the boot sector file became corrupted. I am still investigating this. Please do note that four other laptops within my immediate family updated to SP1 with no problem whatsoever. I don't mean to scare you here... but it is better to err on the side of caution - in my view, anyway.

If you require any additional instructions whatsoever - please just ask. That is why we are here.... OK? Good Luck to you and please keep me apprised.

Regards. . .

Re: Blue screen problems, constant crashes!

Hi. I have been getting the exact same problem for the last 3 weeks. I have to reformat and re-install each time. I have checked all my hardware and found no faults. I have pinpointed this error to a Microsoft update but unfortunately did not write it down. If it happens again, which I expect it will, I will post the updates I was installing before the next blue screen.
It only ever occurs for me during microsoft updates.
