[SOLVED] No Audio Device Installed

Yesterday my sound worked fine for my windows vista computer but now it won't work. It says No Audio Output Device is installed and when I click on iTunes or one of the sound players I have it says it has detected a problem with the audio configuration. Audio/Video playback may not work properly. I installed an optional update yesterday but I don't even remember what it had to do with and I can't find it to see what it was. How can I fix this problem?

You can either go into Device manager, Drivers and rollback your sound driver to the previous version -or- you can completely uninstall the sound device and related software, download the latest driver/software from your PC MFG's website and install the latest version from scratch.

What make/model is your PC?

Hi, I'm not positive if this is what you want but I have a Dell Latitude D820. So, if I wanted to reinstall it from the site how would I do that?

First verify that you didn't accidentaly mute your PC with a key stroke combo or a knob/button on the PC itself. Generally, there are FN-<KEY> combos that control volume, muting, brightness, contrast, etc.

don't install the latest update for sound drivers from ms it is causing the problem
