Service Pack did not install
I have tried both Windows Update and even downloaded it. Both ways tell me Service Pack did not install. Reverting changes.
Dell Inspirion 1501, Vista Home Premium I have all updates installed and this morning I finally had Service Pack listed at Windows Update that did not install so I manually tried and still have install issue. Any ideas? |

Re: Service Pack did not install
*---> Please ensure the following prerequisites are in place on the system before installing the Vista SP1
· Through windows update install the update 935509 for Vista Enterprise and Vista Ultimate only · Install updates 938371 and 937287 for all the versions including enterprise and ultimate · Check for windows updates and click on view updates to view the list of updates available. Check (a) all the optional updates and install them · The optional updates contain device drivers for Audio, modem, graphics, wireless card, NIC etc.. · Installing SP1 without the device driver update may cause some of the devices to malfunction. Please Note: Driver update from dell.com may not help as the driver versions could be older than the ones required for SP1 update Below is what MS says... *---> If u get this Error message when you try to install Windows Vista Service Pack 1: "Installation was not successful" or "An internal error occurred while installing the service pack" http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947366 and also.... Issues occurring during the installation of Vista SP1: · Error 0x080070002 – Current fix is to run CheckSUR, and then retry the update to Vista SP1. · Error 0x80073712 – Current fix is to try CheckSUR http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821/en-us @@@@@@@@@Basically, look for the 3 pre-requisites@@@@@@@@@@@ and also, being a technician, I would advice not to install SP1 by downloading it directly from microsoft.com (also called standsalone installer) Last edited by Sean@HP; 05-02-2008 at 07:26 AM. |
