Driver problems in Windows Vista

Hi, my name is Martin and at first i want to say that I'm from Argentina; so sorry if my English isn't good enough.

First a little info of My Pc:

Amd Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 6000+ 3,00 Ghz
Kingston 2 GB Ram
GeForce 8600 GS
Western Digital 250 GB
OS: Windows Vista Ultimate 32 bits Service Pack 1

I have this two problems (since almost a month):

1) I bought USB Flash Drive: Kingston DataTraveler Minifun 4 GB. And when i plug it windows can't find the proper driver. (it should be plug & play, so it doesn't bring any driver). When I ask windows to look in the internet it says that can't find the driver.
When i ask to look in my HD, Vista says that it could find the driver but that a problem was found when trying to install the software driver and can't install it.

I'm completely lost, and can't believe that so far i couldn't use my flash drive.

2)When playing Crysis or mostly The Witcher, eventually (pretty often) it crash and send me to the desktop saying me that windows has encountered an error in.... (the executable in cuestion) and need to close.
I did a research in a couple of sites, and i find out that Vista has a problem when talking about Virtual Memory limitations in the latest games. Next i found an official update that coul fix the problem called "Update for Windows Vista (KB940105)". I try to install it, but when i try a message appear saying "the update doesn't apply to the system".

So I can't install that update, so i can't resolve the problem, and so i can't play those games (and neither of the newest games).

I want to thanks in advance for anyone that coul help me.
Thanks a lot!!

Re: Driver problems in Windows Vista

Hi mazapan_joy_joy -

Welcome to the Tech Support Forum - Vista Support!

I would like two things from you to hopefully clarify some items so that I may try to help you.

1. A Belarc Advisor report saved in "mht" format (Top right of Internet Explorer screen; Page; Saved as; save as mht), as a web page or as a Word document. You can download Belarc HERE.

2. A DXDiag report - START | type dxdiag into the Start Search box | right-click on dxdiag.exe | select Run as Administrator | respond to User Access Control prompt. Then save this report as a text file.

If you would then send me these reports via Email either as separate attachments or as one zip file - DO NOT ATTACH to a post as there is secure system information within the Belarc report. Please be sure to include your screen name in the subject area and a link to this thread in the body of the email.

I'll take a look and get back to you... OK?

Also - has the USB ever worked properly?

Regards. . .

jcgriff2
