Spyware, systray gone!
I'm so fustrated right now i did an ad aware search and spybot search at the same time last night, after sorting out spybot this morning i just clicked my way through ad aware even though there must of been a critical problem
I've just got home and turned on my pc and i have two error messages running from startup One is a run dll error, with missing entry:run the other states i have smpsystray error code 2, system cannot find the file shortly after these error messages my whole desktop disappears because a system tray file is missing, one that was probably affected by ad aware, there is nothing in the recycling bin, and i do not have a vista cd, it came pre installed I do have 2 mins at most with the computer to click and choose what i want before everything disappears from desktop Is there anything i can do at all??? please helpp |

Welcome to the Tech Support Forum for Vista. Please provide the manfacturer and model information for your computer. It is possible that your computer contains a hidden recovery partition on the hard drive. I will be happy to see what I can find out with the requested info. Also - you say that you "have 2 min... to click and choose..." - what? What are the options at this point? regards. . . jcgriff2 |

Re: Spyware, systray gone!
Hi, its a packard bell running vista the model type is utow-sfr
i have more then 2 mins, the desktop and start menu disappears after these error messages which is used to take about 2 mins, now it happens immediately but my gadget panel is still open which allows me to get into my computer and access files. I dont know if i have a recovery partition on the hard drive Packard bell somewhere has a program on there that allows me to recover, and re install including the windows vista that is on there. At the moment i'm too sure how to access it, but i'm backing up files as we speak Any help would be great Also at the moment i'm trying to get my media files backed up on to the external hard disk we have, it says that its not copying property rights over, and when i look at them on the external hard disk they are set to read only...is there anyway i can change this? |

Re: Spyware, systray gone!
Did you get any disks at all with your computer? I know that Fujitsu Siemens provide a DVD with their computers that doesn't clearly say it is the Vista back-up, but it still works.

Re: Spyware, systray gone!
i got the computer from pc world i think from xmas, i'll be able to know more when my mum gets back.
I didnt get any disks from the computer but it had the option of re installing windows from boot I've gone ahead with the system restore, re installing windows and keeping a backup of my folders on the hard disk. The desktop is working fine now i have one new error message though that is stopping my Belkin wireless adaptor from connecting An error runs in WG111CFG.EXE unable to locate component W32N50.dll was not found Is there anyway to fix this? thanks for your help |
