Exclamation Black desktop

Hi,
I'm posting to ask about a BIG problem I've got. My pc boots fine and I can log on fine but when I'm logged on I can see nothing only a black blank screen but Internet Explorer automaticaly turns on (with no conection till I press homepage and it works fine) I tried safe mode but the same a black blank screen. I used task manger=>new task.... to get my cleaners up and I deleted all the in my computer then I restated no difference. So It's defenitly NOT a virus,spyare or any other .So IM at point melt down.

PLZ HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am tring to avoid to use my vista cd PLZ HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have the same problem but all that comes up is the my documents folder. I then just start explorer in task manager but I haven't been able to find a fix either.

try these maybe

One thought.
You could try turning off the UAC in control panel>user accounts and see if it lets you use your desktop.(may need to restart).
This might be useful,if not a little more complicated.

The usual causes for this are

Malware
Internet Explorer should not start on its own unless you have specifically set it to start at bootup.

Aero
How much RAM do you have? If less than 2GB try turning Aero off

A recent Windows Update
Did this just start after updating with the latest patches?

Virtual DVD/CD drives
