Hello there warlordfmike I just perchased the samsung SH-S202N for my Vista Ultimate and im getting the same exact error. "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)"

What exactly did you do in the registry, can you somehow show me step by step since im sort of a noob I guess? Id very much appreciate you doing this.

Re: [SOLVED] samsung sh-s202n code 39

Oh God I hope people are still reading this thread!

I have got a very similar problem here. Just bought a Samsung SH-S202N, can't get the damned thing to install properly. Either comes up as CD-ROM drive or running the download from Samsung, it comes up as DVD-RAM drive. Tried following the advice in this thread, but it hasn't changed anything. Could there be something wrong with the Plug and Play files, or possibly the cables? Using an IDE lead, which is also connected to another, very very old Samsung DVD/CD Combo drive which is still working perfectly.

The SH-S202N has been put in to replace a Sony drive that we thought was broken after having flashed the drive to try and change the bit-rate, have we maybe just wrecked the OS not the drive?

Any help would be most appreciated!
