New PC: every 10 secs lag.

I got a new pc:

4gb ram, E6850 3.0ghz, Vista Business, 8800gtx.

After an hour every 20 or so secs the mouse freezes, sounds skip, and pc freezes for about 0.5 of a sec... its really wierd.

I tried removing Avira Antivirus... still same problem.. I used CD Asus p5k premium drivers so then i updated off ASUS and still same issue.

Anyone know any conflicts or causes of this?
It seems to have no processes running > 5% so i cant find the cause.

Re: New PC: every 10 secs lag.

ok seems to spike CPU usage up to 99% every now and then and die away.. But no process is showing this usage.

Re: New PC: every 10 secs lag.

I had the same problem, that usually happens when the graphics card and the processor dont go so well together, do the following...

1) Go to the manufacturers web site and download the latest CHIPSET drivers.
2) Restart in safe mode
3) Install the new driver
4) Restart
5) Post what happened on the forum!

Re: New PC: every 10 secs lag.

If this begins after about an hour each time it could be heat related. Are your fans working up to the rated speed and is the intake and ventway unobstructed? I have taken the side off or opened the clam shell case and directed a house fan directly onto the motherboard and determined heat related. It will take longer to fail or not fail at all.
