BSOD from USB devices
I've had my new desktop for a couple monthes now & every couple weeks I'll have a couple consecutive days where anytime I connect something USB to my computer, it BSOD's on me. Frequently when I connect/turn on an external HD, BSOD. When I connect my phone to charge/transfer data, BSOD. Now it's expanding to almost anything plugged in (SD card into my built in card reader, even once when I plugged in an ethernet cable) Anyone have an idea if this is something common to Vista or Vista 64, or do I have some special case? Let me know if you need to know the other PC components to help diagnose the problem.

Re: BSOD from USB devices
Please gather the mini dump files - c:\windows\minidump - ALL of them. Also run msinfo32 from the start search box and save as NFO (sys info file) - you'll see the option. Zip them up and attach to post and I'll run them and see if they can provide any clues.

Re: BSOD from USB devices
OK, here's all the mini dump files & the msinfo32 NFO
PS- I did a search through the microsoft update files for USB driver updates. I found I update that seemed to be a possible fix: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/925528/ (Stop errors occur on a Windows-based computer that has 2GB or more of RAM and is using an NVIDIA nForce USB controller) I've got a NVidia GeForce 8600GT with 4 GB ram. When reading that, I thought it was refering to the video card since I've never known NVidia to make other products, but I've also never heard a video card refered to as a USB controller, so I haven't installed the update yet. Re: BSOD from USB devices
Hi. . . The bugcheck from the last dump 07-22-08-01 was A, {8, c, 1, fffff800024c298f}. A bugcheck of 0x0000000a = 0xa = indicates that Microsoft Windows or a kernel-mode driver accessed paged memory when it should not have. It is most likely an offending driver from a system service (services.msc). My thoughts are that Kaspersky and/or Norton are involved here. I would un-install both using their respective removal tools - be sure to re-boot between each. Then run and see if you still get BSODs. If all seems OK, re-install the one of your choice. I would not advise having two anti-virus installations running at the same time as they tend to conflict with each other. http://service1.symantec.com/Support...05033108162039 http://support.kaspersky.com/removaltool?qid=193238475 As for the RAM/Nvidia - THIS particular BSOD did not mention anything about USB. Have you actually seen the STOP errors (bugchecks) listed in the MS kb on a BSOD - 0x1000007E or 0x00000127? Have you loaded any USB-related software in (like for a camera card or for an external back-up drive)? Take a look at wercon (START | type wercon into start search box | select wercon above). The piece of wercon that I saw from your msinfo32 NFO file - Code:

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (a)
An attempt was made to access a pageable (or completely invalid) address at an
interrupt request level (IRQL) that is too high. This is usually
caused by drivers using improper addresses.
If a kernel debugger is available get the stack backtrace.
Arguments:
Arg1: 0000000000000008, memory referenced
Arg2: 000000000000000c, IRQL
Arg3: 0000000000000001, bitfield :
bit 0 : value 0 = read operation, 1 = write operation
bit 3 : value 0 = not an execute operation, 1 = execute operation (only on chips which support this level of status)
Arg4: fffff800024c298f, address which referenced memory
