Hello,

I bought a new PC a while back - it was "empty" with the idea of me installing a windows vista operating disc onto the PC(I lost the company one but bought another vista-installation disc).
I installed up what seemed to be the right wires(ie a white video-cable linking the hard-drive and the monitor(the plug with all those pins), I also inserted a plug from the monitor to the mains, and even put a much smaller wire with green and blue plugs into the relevant green and blue plugs on the monitor and hard-drive, linking both.

The hard-drive, a powerful new PC, starts off with powerfully with flashing blue lights, and the DVD-ROM drives flash green when you click and open them, so that seems to be working, the monitor (an ACER) turns on fine, with the blue "ACER" logo appearing on the screen - but then the words fade followed by the words "no signal" in grey appearing in a grey box in the middle within a black screen - the button at the bottom of the monitor glows green at first when the blue ACER logo comes on, but goes "orange" on standby mode when the "no signal" words appear.

. I've been told that what should happen instead is that some words come up requesting you to install an operating system or whatever, but they don't appear.

Anyway, I at first thought that the error was due to missing screw-hole on the hard-drive which was supposed to be filled by one of the two screws on the white video-cable, but I was told that even so, the video-cable should have transmitted some info while pushed in both plugs.

I was also told that the problem could be due to a faulty video card with someone else claiming that the monitor is somehow at fault.

. I'm having the hard-drive sent infinally on Monday, as the blasted delivery-people have fouled things up by not turning up on the day they were supposed to, but turning up the next day when I was away. If anyone can suggest another solution, I'd be most grateful.
