Making putty the default telnet handler in Vista...
Hello, my work has recently upgraded to Windows Vista. I don't mind the OS except for one thing, in Vista I had set the file extensions to recognize putty anytime a telnet application was invoked, and telnet links (from IE for example) would automatically open in putty. I can't figure out how to do this in Vista. Basically, in XP, if I clicked a telnet link (for example, telnet://4.2.2.1/) it would normally open up with Windows default telnet application (HyperTerminal, I believe) - I had changed the extension to recognize putty as the default telnet handler. Now on Vista I can't figure out how to do this. Any help would be appreciated. I tried a few registry edits under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT>telnet>shell>open>command, changing the url to Putty's path but I couldn't get it to work either. Thanks in advance.
