Windows Vista Disagrees with XPS?
I have a:
Dell XPS M1730 running Windows Vista Home Premium 32 Bit. Basically it's a gigantic paperweight right now.. Processor: Mobile Intel 2.4 GB, 4MB, 800 FSB Merom processor (Not sure what 100% of that means). RAM: 2 GB DDR2 667MHz, 2 DIMM Video Card: NVIDIA SLI Dual GeForce 8700MGT with 512MB GDDR3 memory. (Again, all Iknow is that the video card is pretty good). I bought it about 6 months ago, and already hate Vista. That is not the problem, though. I cannot reinstall Vista on my computer. I have heard this is a fairly common problem for my model of computer, but have not found an answer that I can make sense of. When the installation process finishes (after about 4-5 hours) the screen goes black, and I can move the mouse, but cannot do anything else. I am using the Install disc that came with my computer, and am using vista without SP1 (It was messed up before SP1 could be downloaded). I have tried using different drivers and I cannot even begin to tell what all I tried to do, but I erased everything and started from scratch, I ould love some help in this...I am so lost right now. : |

Re: Windows Vista Disagrees with XPS?
Well, it turns out all I had to do was use the Media center 3.3 disk to repartition my drives, then presto, no problems. i got my clean reinstall, but Dell still sucks becuase they said I needed a new hard drive...way off the mark, Dell loses this round
. All is well in the world, |
