Problems accessing some parts of the internet

I am having strange problems with my set up. I have a Packard Bell with a core 2 duo Intel processor and 4 gb of ram and 2 hard drives each 250 gb.
What seems to be happening is that ever since I installed SP1 windows can't connect to the internet to get up dates. I can browse ok with Firefox to any other website, and my email is working fine. I have also found that itunes can't connect to the Itunes store, however if I connect my Iphone to my wifes PC which is running XP but uses the same wireless router that can connect. Lastly I now can't log in to my router if I type the Ip address directly into Firefox. I am running Kapersky as my antivirus. Any help would be appreciated. I have tried looking at the firewall exceptions but they seem to be fine, i am getting very frustrated with Vista at the moment, which is a shame as in all other respects I quite like it.

Can you web surf with IE? My laptop recently had this problem where Win Update would not connect and neither would IE. HP tech support suggested I make up a new user account and try doing it with that. That worked for me. Not the most pleasant work around, but it got the updates. Just tonight I noticed Win Update works again, so maybe one of the updates fixed the problem.
