Err

I logged in today and noticed a file on my desktop called C__Users_Daniel_AppData_Local_Microsoft_Windows_Temporary_Internet_Files_Content.IE5_FWKWAQ0E_CACTGUTQ.htm.

It contained the following:

Quote:
*** Code Download Log entry (30 May 2008 @ 16:58:30) ***

Seeing as I didn't download anything today, i'm guessing something was trying to update automatically but failed?

I googled it and some results having to do with Windows Media Player came up.

Re: Err

Hi Slapshot. . .

Welcome back to TSF.

Do a find using REGEDIT for the CLSID {619AFAEF-551C-46B6-B9EF-F6D674D14E5A}. What are the results?

Also, check to see if you have the following:

C:\Program Files\There\ThereRepository\{619AFAEF-551C-46B6-B9Ef-F6D674D14E5A}\ThereInstallHelper.dll

This could be a linksys update gone bad - I just am not sure at this time.

Also, please run msinfo32 from an elevated command prompt - zip it up and attach to your next post - it is system information.

If you need any further instructions on the above - please let me know.

Regards. . .

Re: Err

Nope, I don't have CLSID {619AFAEF-551C-46B6-B9EF-F6D674D14E5A} in my registry, or even a folder called there in C:\Program Files.

Re: Err

Hey slapshot

This issue relates to an old .dll file from Internet Explorer, usually IE5

ocget.dll

Unfortunatley it looks like Microsoft have issued this .dll file and then retracted it, Internet Explorer still thinks it is needed and keeps trying to get the ocget.dll

To resolve it,

1. Delete the file from your dekstop first of all

2. Click the Start button, select Run and type Regedit, click Ok

3. Navigate to

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings

4. On the right hand side double click CodeBaseSearchPath

5. Delete the value so it is blank and select Ok and reboot

6. Internet Explorer will stop looking for the .dll

Regards

Craig

Re: Err

Done, thanks for your help.

However, will this affect anything else?
