Dual Boot questions
ok, today i finally (FINALLY!! after 2 days of trying!!!) manged to set up an XP/Vista dual-boot. and so far it's been working excellently (and i love vista's interface!). but i have a question regarding programs, and it's whether i'll have any problems regarding using (all vista-compatible) software for both OS's with only one installation.
thanks in advance

Re: Dual Boot questions
I can't help with the crashing problem, but I can tell you that some programs (not many) will run from a single installation, but most require that you install them in both OSs. I presume it depends on whether or not they make registry changes.

Re: Dual Boot questions
oh, one more thing (sorry about this, but I REALLY want to get it right). my internet no longer works on XP. it says that the LAN is connected, and is receiving packets, but when i open a browser it can't load any web page. downloads don't work either. on vista, everything is fine.

I had a problem with Vista and XP trying to read off each other's partitions and configurations. But when I installed OSL2000, it fixed it. Try this one... OSL2000 http://www.osloader.com/download.htm That is one of the best and more reliable Boot Managers around. I had trouble dual booting XP and Vista using other boot options, but with OSL2000 it worlked perfectly. Let me know how you go. Last edited by truthseeker : 05-17-2008 at 09:00 PM. |
