Error 08000000A during backup
I need some assistance. I'm receiving the following error code when I try to use backup to backup data on my system: 08000000A. I've been all over microsoft's site and the net but cannot locate anything that can help me. I've received good help from the forums in the past and am asking for help again.
Thanks.

Re: Error 08000000A during backup
Hey sgundrum
Ok this is a profile error where it cant load up the direct path to a registry key that contains the profile info, basically it cant load up an old profile that may be deleted 1. Start\Run and type "Regedit.msc" 2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList 3. Go through the profile list and delete the one that has previously been deleted or shouldn't be there, The ones you search through are highlighted in the picture. DO NOT DELETE THE ONES AT THE TOP OF THE PROFILE LIST ![]() 4. Once done you should be able to back up straight away regards Craig

I'll give this a shot and let you know if it works.

Re: Error 08000000A during backup
Placehold, i've followed your directions and found that there was the system accounts and the two users accounts listed. There was nothing else there. What I did next was to try a backup using the other account. Had the same error message. I then scheduled a automatic backup. Had the same error. I then decided to run system file checker to check the system files. It came back and said that it cannot complete the check due to corrupt files. I think my only option at this point is to do a recovery on the system

Re: Error 08000000A during backup
You could try to backup without the firewall
Disable the firewall, change the location of the backup and then backup This might help a little, alternatively creat a new account and see if you can back it up from the new account. I have had someone before creating a new account, moving everything over to the new account, following the procedure stated earlier by myself to delete their old account and managed to complete a backup, could work if your pushed, this means your not losing anything ![]() Regards Craig
