Re: 8000 miles from home

Maybe you should try and understand that at my current location I don't have the luxury of a telephone. AS posted earlier in my post. BEING 8000 miles away prevents me from walking into the local best buy and asking for help.

Re: 8000 miles from home

and when I boot it just goes to the black screen with the loading bar. If I don't go into a previous date and then into safe mode I can't get on at all.

Here is the warning that occurred afterwards:

Re: 8000 miles from home

Hmmmm i can safely say right now that there is an issue with the USB drivers, Unplug anything that may use a usb port and if you have a wireless keyboard or PS keyboard ....use it, reboot and see if it boots faster

I will be back shortly with a full process for you

regards

Craig

The USB drive was removed however, it was not done safely. I disabled all the USB ports tonight.

Re: 8000 miles from home

I am at home but I have the problem too.
Besides your mesg I got also the message: "A Patch is preventing the system from starting".
To get back in the normal mode I did the following. (cost me over 20 hours to find out)
Go to the safe mode.
Run as administrator in the commandbox SFC /scannow
In the windows folder there is a folder with WINXS/TEMP/PendingRenames.
Move thesse messages to a folder on an other disk (you have to become owner of this folder and files).
Then reboot from safe mode back to normal mode.
This works for a restart. After a powerdown your are lost again.
switch off windows update. It prevents that you get some other fix like KB937287, or the vista SP1.
If somebody knows a better way?

n.b. I am on a ACER Aspire 7720. 2G

Re: 8000 miles from home

I solved my problem. Standard VIST configurate my ATI nootbook videocard as a standard VGA card.
By changing this manualy to the real hardware (HD2300) the problem was over....
Why microsoft hardware did not do that by itself is a question.
good luck
