windows vista x64,windows XP x64 & windows XP 32

hi all,my first post here,so please take it easy on me!

hope someone can help!

heres the situation.ive got 2 hard drives.

1 has vista 64

1 has win XP & win XP 64

everything was rosy until i installed Win XP 64.

I realise that win vista does not use boot.ini and that it has a habit of overwriting ntldr etc. however now i have no boot choices(whereas before i had XP32 and vista) and i get a message upon boot telling me that a recent hardware change may be to blame and to insert the installation cd etc.
i have tried to restore the MBR and fixboot from the XP installation CD,but to no avail.......should i be repairing from the Vista DVD and then use EasyBCD to organise the boot...or am i way out,

any thought would be most welcome

bot from the vista dvd and on the bottom of the install screen click on repair
when you install op.system, the oldest has to be installed first,or hide the newer one while you install
