New computer with vista premium

I'm buying a new computer with Vista Premium and I have an old computer (still working) with win xp.
What's the easiest way to transfer files, settings and documents from the xp machine to the vista machine?
I'm using Seamonkey, Firefox, Thunderbird and lots of MS programs including Zune, MS Office etc.
Thanks for any help and please forgive me if I have asked a question that has been asked before.

Welcome to the Tech Support Forum - Vista Support!

The only files that you will be able to take with you to the new Vista system will be "user" type files - Documents, Pictures, Music, etc. . . Any installed programs like the ones you mentioned will have to go through the re-install process under Vista. One of the easiest ways to transfer the user files is by using the Windows Easy Transfer. HERE is a Microsoft article on it.

Thanks for the link. I knew that I would have to reinstall the programs but wondered if the profiles were the only files that needed to be moved. I later found the files associated with these programs and will move them.
