chkdsk in Vista

OS is Vista Home Premium on a Lenovo 3000 N100 laptop. Cannot run chkdsk as an Administrator. Tried running chkdsk /f. Computer boots up normally without running chkdsk. I even tried running in Safe Mode. No luck. I ran CHKNTFS /c C: and after running it stated "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them." Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: chkdsk in Vista

Might be a good idea to check the integrity of the CHKDSK:

Re: chkdsk in Vista

At an elevated command prompt type:

SFC SCANFILE=C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CHKDSK.EXE

Re: chkdsk in Vista

At an elevated command prompt, I ran sfc scanfile=C:\Windows\system32\chkdsk.exe. I then ran sfc /scannow. After verification, the message was Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS. I looked at this text file and it showed corrupt file. I do not know what to do from here. It looks like the corrupt files are in autochk.exe.
