32bit and 64bit question

Earlier this year I installed Vista Ult 64bit on my laptop. For me it seems to run better. I have had people ask me what the difference is (32 vs 64) and I honestly don't know. Any ideas would help, I think this might make a worthy article. Thanks a head of time for your input.

Thanks, that does make sense. At least I have an answer now instead of going "uh...duh"
I'll keep looking, because of the increased availability of 64bit software and hardware, I feel this will become a frequently asked question. I may even have to try my hand at composing an article about this (Oh God, Hang on!)
