Windows update being a *****

Hey guys,

I'm trying to install service pack 1 for vista and i get a error (code 80240016) on the windows update so since that didn't work, I tried to download the standalone installer and i get a error that my language that i have installed is not supported or i have installed a language pack that isn't supported now I'm thinking "WHAT!?! my language is English" so i check my regional and language settings and my langauge is set to english so then i check windows update and download checkSUR and i ran the program but it stopped updating just over halfway so i closed it and tried to run the program again and this error came up Installer encountered a error 0x80240009.

Weird eh? any ideas guys?.

Re: Windows update being a *****

Ok i tried what you said but before i did the validation windows update just kept giving me the same error each time i started the fine more updates
But now it allowed me to download the update and install it then another error came up (code 80070570)

I tried the standalone installer as well but that still said i had the wrong language pack :/

Re: Windows update being a *****

Heres some more info on the problem

On the left: Windows update with error.

On the right: When i re-tried the scan it just stayed like this (i shall leave it on just a bit longer to see if something happens).

On the Bottom: Standalone vista Service pack 1 still not working with English language pack.

Re: Windows update being a *****

Try installing a language pack then.

To install a Language Interface Pack (LIP), double-click the file to open the setup program. To install a Multilingual User Interface Pack (MUI), follow these steps:

Click to open Regional and Language Options.

Click the Keyboards and Languages tab.

Under Display Language, click Install/uninstall languages, and then follow the steps. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Note
The Display language section will only be visible if you have already installed a LIP or if your edition of Windows supports MUI. MUI packs are only available in Windows Vista Ultimate and Windows Vista Enterprise.

After you install a display language, you need to set your computer to use that language. For more information, see Change the display language.

Re: Windows update being a *****

Did you run sfc /scannow - then try to install SP1?

Re: Windows update being a *****

A system restore might fix this.

Try it
