random blue screen problem

Hi. I've been having problems for the past couple of weeks with my computer shutting down. It happens randomly, pretty much only online, (28.8k dialup), and usually only when downloading stuff or using a lot of bandwith (which isn't very hard..) It sometimes happens after 5-10 minutes or after an hour or two, but it never goes more than that, and about half the time happens when I leave the computer on overnight to download. When the error occurs the computer goes to the BSOD and runs the crach dump, and once vista starts rebooting, it makes a loud brrrhing sound (don't know if it's a factor, but I know it's not the fans)

I'm running on a HP Media Center PC, model m7767c with a Intel Core 2 Duo, 6600 @ 24.0 GHz and 2 GB of RAM

The latest problem report vista made for this was:

Re: random blue screen problem

Hey

here are the minidump files for you: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=OWQAU2SF

the dxdiag didnt turn anything up, and the device manager didn't show any flags..

i haven't installed any hardware, although about a month or two before the problem started we reformatted our computer and so I don't t know if all the drivers were reinstalled correctly..

we don't have another modem, and i dont think i'd know what to do if i did..

and thanks a lot! :)

Re: random blue screen problem

ok ill get someone to look at the minidump files

but i still need the dxdiag files as that i can find the drivers that
u might need to update

do u have vista home basic or vista home premium 32bit or 64bit

because the (bsod) blue screen of death is caused from or by
modem look here

http://forums.anandtech.com/messagev...=y&STARTPAGE=3

http://www.techspot.com/vb/all/windo...ome-Basic.html

i had a issue with a modem that came with my pc and had to buy a new one

i really think its caused from the modem now i could be wrong

have u got the (bsod) blue screen of death error code 0x000000d1 because i know that error is caused by the modem and the only way to fix it is by replaceing the modem but only if u have got the error before

can see what it says in the device manager under modem and post the same
thing it says there as that i might beable to find drivers for it

regards

Re: random blue screen problem

i think i fixed the problem!

vista had an update, CXT - Network - PCI Soft Data Fax Modem with SmartPC, that i didnt download til two days ago, and since then it hasn't restarted once! I don't even have a fax so i dont know what it had to do, but i'm just glad it works.

Thanks a lot anyways, I'll know where to come if i have anymore problems!

Re: random blue screen problem

ok reinstalling the modem is not going to fix as iv said it has nothing to do with the
drivers its the modem its self as iv had the same issue with a modem that came
with this computer and had to get a new modem as iv said u can get a modem from
wal-mart or newegg.com

but if the reinstalling the drivers work for u then fine but down the road it will start
again

i have deal with modem issue before as i have post here before on the same modem
and was not able to fix it with reinstalling the drivers atall it just made it worse

with best regards . . . . . . .
