Need Help with my computor.
Hi everyone please answer this post please because I really need help. I got a Vista computor Intel Core 2 Dou, window vista basic and the computer is starting to become really slow all the sudden. Do anyone have any recommendations on like anti viiruses programs? Also now I want to learn how to reformat my harddrive or the whole comp to urs orginal state. Could someone teach me how to? It seem really complicated.

Re: Need Help with my computor.
Okay, to start with you're computer's probably slow because of the processes its running, start by taking a look at how many processes are running (hit Ctrl+Shift+Esc, and click the processes tab) the thing to look for is how many processes are using a high CPU usage.
to avoid this i suggest you clean out your startup programs, there are a few ways to do this. without having to download new software: 1) open up the start menu 2) type msconfig into the search bar(or click run then type "msconfig.msc") 3) open up msconfig(by clicking the shortcut / pressing run etc) 4) click on the startup tab 5) here you will find all the programs that start up when windows starts, if you haven't cleaned this out yet then you'll be running a tonne of random stuff you dont need to be from startup. 6) click the tick in any of the boxes on the sides that dont seem necessary (if you need help on this, google the program's name and look for something recommending either keeping it on at startup or turning it off)... or you could post the list here and have someone suggest it.(for example i have 6 startup programs that actually run. and about 20 that the tick is not on in[they dont run at startup]. some of the ones that are unneeded are things like, adobe acrobat, jusched(java's update scheduler)... whilst the things i have running are: my firewall, my mousepad's driver interface thing, my moniter drivers). 7)click ok 8) restart 9) if anything doesn't work as it should then go back into msconfig and re-tick the box that you think is responsible Hope i helped, Jamey P.S. on the way of spyware/cleaning utilities i use spybot s&d, easyCleaner(keeps your computer running fast and cleans up). and re-formatting your hard-drive can be a tricky business, it all depends on the computer (normally you get a restore disk?) |
