Sound card has vanished!
Hi, I turned off my speakers and now my Extensa 5220 says that I don't have any speakers and therefore cannot have any sound!
I'm using Vista. I was playing sound without problems beforehand. I had decided to use headphones and was looking for a way to disable the speakers (just wanted to turn them off). I right-clicked on the speaker icon in the taskbar, selected playback devices, highlighted the speakers icon and clicked on the properties button, then disabled the device. Then the audio stopped working. So I went back to enable it again, but it won't let me! Because there is now no speaker icon, I can't get back into properties to enable the device. I've been hunting through control panel and everywhere I go, the thing says I don't have a sound card installed. Problem: how do I tell my computer that it has a sound card when it keeps saying that I don't? Cheers, |

"Right click the inner window"
I would never have thought of that! Cheers, Frank. You have returned the soothing strains of Eva Cassidy to my stressed-out ears. Why can't they just display the disabled devices greyed out? Why this right-click on an otherwise empty window business? Ah well, I suppose if I understood these things, I'd be working for Microsoft. Much obliged. |
