Dual boot vista/xp

Hello! this is my first post, so I'm sorry if this topic is frowned upon (seeing as no one else has posted bout it). anyway i recently bought a laptop
Sony Vaio VGN-AR605E with vista home premium on it. I also had best buy
upgrade it to a 2 GB ram before i left the store with it. Well here is my problem, i want to add in Xp or if i have to then wipe out vista. I read a guide on google for this exact model but it did not work here is the link if you like http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=222277

but i downloaded all the drivers and slipstreamed it all and went to make bootable disc and it was too big...so i tried again but only with SP2 and the Sata driver sliped and it worked but when i tossed the cd in my laptop it still gave me the blue screen saying f-3 to quit because it cannot find my hard drive. My uncle has a usb-floppy if i really need to us it, to add in the driver but which driver do i download? obviously that one was wrong right?
also if anyone can refer me to a program to find out my current hardware would be appreciated as the past few i have found wont work for me.

you are looking for a raid driver which needs to be put on a floppy then once xp is loading files press f6 and direct to the raid file on the floppy, here is the support site from sony .

Re: Dual boot vista/xp

Some BIOS allow an Alternate method for SATA . . Go into the bios and check the "Sata Operation" setting, change it to "Raid Autodetect/ATA

Re: Dual boot vista/xp

well when i go to bios it gives me next to nothing for things to change and nothing at all about my hard drive/sata also if i use nLite how would i extract the drivers from the download? the download works like an installer rather then a file i can choose for drivers, it does not show up when i go to integrate drivers.thank you again for your replies.

Re: Dual boot vista/xp

Hi,
To extract the drivers from the .exe refer http://www.intel.com/support/chipset.../cs-020825.htm

There is also an issue with some drivers for XP , refer http://www.intel.com/support/chipset.../CS-020826.htm for the driver with the fix.

I used nlite to slipstream and was able to install XP successfully in my laptop without a floppy drive

Thanks,
Karuna
