Hi, I recently took a web-based class that required me to install Vista Business in a Virtual PC. This worked out fine, and the copy was eventually activated...
For future reference (and easier access) I want to install it on my laptop instead (still in VPC). But since it's already been activated on one machine, is it possible to move it over to another PC now? I remember my instructor saying something about there being a process for this, but I could be mistaken. Thanks in advance for the help. |

Re: Vista in Virtual PC
Hey pal
Virtual machines are portable...you don't need to activate again...just install the virtual pc and open the virtual disk Cheers Sergio

Re: Vista in Virtual PC
Really? So, I could just, say, burn the current VPC files to a DVD and then paste them in the right folders on my laptop?
If that's the case, thanks so much for the help . I didn't know this at all, lol.I'll give it a shot next chance I get. |

Re: Vista in Virtual PC
Copy the vhd file and then just create a virtual machine in VirtualPC tell it to use the harddrive.
EX: If you have the vhd file named vista.vhd on the desktop pc simply copy that file to the laptop. Create a virtual machine configuration in virtual pc. Tell it to use an existing vhd. Tell it where vista.vhd is stored. Thats all there is to it. ![]() Your vhd file (Virtual Hard Disk) may not be named vista.vhd |

Re: Vista in Virtual PC
Oh, forgot to ask this. They actually gave me a full copy of Vista Business through a school program. Now, if I wanted to one day actually install this on my laptop, would that be a different story in regards to the activation?
If I can't do it, then I won't worry about it. Already got Home Premium on my laptop. It'd just be [really] awesome to have a clean install for once. Haven't had one of those since my old Windows 98 machine XD. |
