windows vista and avg not working together

I have downloaded avg several times and it is ok untill I shut down my computer at night. When I bring it back up the next morning it is not working and I have to download it again. Windows update has told me to download several things but nothing works. Help

Hello carolynkitchens

Are you sure it is not working?
Could it just be that it is not in the system tray?

Click the Start Button and hover over All Programs
Find AVG in the list (might be under Grisoft).
Click to open the folder.
Hover over each entry until you find its entry in Program Files then click this.

Does AVG open then?

Same happens with my Vista, but, when I've finished installing - it blue screens my PC
