Vista SP1 = DVD Driver gone ?
Hi I'm new on this forum and need help.
Right last night i had nothing to do and i heard that Windows had released there Vista SP1 so i thought i would find it, download it, install it. I downloaded it fine then installed it which did take a while but then shutdown & restarted fine. I run a few thing then went to bed. It wasn't until the next day i stuck a Game DVD in my DVD/CD Driver and click my Game's Desktop Icon and it said 'No CD/DVD-ROM drive found'. So i went into 'My Computer' and there was NO CD/DVD driver icon there just my Vista C: hard drive. I went into 'Device Manager' And there was my CD/DVD Driver but with a sort of warning icon. Here's a pic, ![]() I have tried Updating the driver but it says 'No new update needed' I've tried Windows Updates but there's no more updates left for me to install. So i dunno were to go from here i only got my laptop back from Toshiba 3 weeks ago because my Hard Drive failed. If it help I'm using, TOSHIBA Satellite A100 Laptop Windows Vista Home Premium (SP1) 1.73Ghz 1 Gig Ram |

Are you sure Vista will install it again because i have no disc or what ever else you need. Vista was pr-loaded on my laptop and i don't want anything else to go wrong because this laptop is my work. |

Re: Vista SP1 = DVD Driver gone ?
Thank you for your help But,
While i was waiting for your second responds i found this other Toshiba forum and someone posted in there about High & Low Filters. Thay said to delete them and after that it should work, So i did so. When starting up the computer after the restart it said some files are missing and my worse nightmare in a computer. So i went into Boot and hoping my DVD/CD Drive was now working so that i can boot up my computer with the Product Recovery Disc and luckely it did. My computer is now working again but without the SP1. Now all i gotta do is install all my things i had back on there. Thanks for your help anyway. |
