I am getting a lot of system crashes

Hi, i recently installed windows vista ultimate 32 bit, and since i have had it i am getting a lot of system crashes, mainly the screen just freezes when i am doing something simple like scrolling down a webpage, with little or no other programs running. I leave it for 10 minutes but nothing happens so i have to hit the restart button. Also, when i turn the computer off normally but hitting shutdown on the windows bar, when i next boot up the pc it gives me an unexpected shutdown message with the option to go into safemode, even though i shut it down correctly. Now originally, windows gave me a troubleshooting option which found my graphics card driver to be out of date, but i reinstalled an updated vista version and the same thing is happening but without the troubleshooting guide when i boot up.

heres my specs

Asus p4s800 motherboard
intel pentium 4 3.00ghz processor
1023mb ram
radeon 9800 pro graphics card

let me know if you need any more specs.

Thank you

Re: I am getting a lot of system crashes

the power supply is 400watts, not too sure of the brand, il have a look later, i don;t have time to take the case off right now. I am using the same power supply as i was in my old setup, it's just a different case. The only difference is it has a side fan and front led light up. I still think it's something to do with the radeon driver because occasionally i still get the troubleshooting guide and it still tells me there's a problem with the driver. But i have installed the vista version so i'm not sure what to do. Would installing the driver through device manager rather than the installation process help?
