Backup/Restore error 0x81000109

G'day all,

Now that I have my new puter all setup, I attempted to backup via Vista Basic Backup/Restore but recieved this error.

****
The backup did not complete successfully.

A shadow copy could noy be created for the following reason:

Windows cannot create a shadow copy due to internal error in other system components. For more info view the event log.(0x81000109)
****
Perusing the Eventlog, I can't find any reference?

Acer Aspire 5315, 512Mb RAM, Vista Basic.

Microsoft support has no info.
Acer support can only suggest a re-install.

I also see a lot of other users encounter the same, with no fixes.

Thnx guys.

Hey there

I personally have had this issue once or twice,

you have to manually go into the backup center and redirect the backups back to the folder you want to backup into

start\control panel\system and maintenance\backup and restore center\change settings

This can happen when you install a security update, the filter changes and breaks the link for the backups

regards

Re: Backup/Restore error 0x81000109

Hi Placehold,

Thnx for the response.

I have Vista Basic and I don,t have that option?
Upon selecting "Change Settings", it simply goes to the backup scrn and the only option is to select the Drive. No folder selection anywhere.

If you select the drive does it allow to to back up without the error message appearing?
