OS: Vista Business 32-bit

Changing Keys?

Well i bought Vista Business 32-bit for some reason and now i realize i do not need Business. So is there anyway i would be able to give Microsoft my key, they could deactivate it, then i could get a Home Premium one?

Im guessing no. But im hoping it is possible. I could always call Microsoft and ask them. And after looking around, it looks like Home Premium is actually cheaper.

Thanks,
Jesse

Hello jesse2200

There is no way to deactivate a product key. If you wish to reuse it at a
later date you simply activate it again. As long as you are within the
terms of the license you will be able to activate it. It may require phone
activation as it's already been activated once.

All the best

Oh i see. I believe my key is OEM, what if i was to get a new motherboard and reformat, would i have to call MS to get a new key then?

Do you know about the Business -> Home Premium question?

Re: Changing Keys?

Yes,
If you keep a copy of the OEM and reinstall the OS,there is a screen that appears and gives you a full instruction page on what to do to reactive the product along with the correct telephone numbers on phone instructions.

I would advise you to contact Microsoft using the online help and support to be advised further on that question
