Code 37????

I have an ACER SA90 (yes I know ...dont laugh) and its running Vista.

Recently the internal DVDRW stopped functioning and the PC lists it as not installed properly and gives the following message....

"Windows cannot initialize the device driver for this hardware. (Code 37)"

Now this was surprising as it was working and now its not.
I have been trying to sort this problem for a while but having no drive made life very difficult.I then was inspired to get a USB external drive. This should fix it - and the external's spec was better than the internal one supplied originally.

However this machine doesn't wrok either and the PC gives me the SAME error message.

Does anyone knowe what code 37 actually means?
Can we get around it?

Cheers in anticipation

Re: Code 37????

try going into device manager, delete the cd/dvd drive, and reboot windows so it will redetect the hardware and reinstall.

Re: Code 37????

I have tried that with both the internal and external drives.

Nothing doing.

Re: Code 37????

Disconnect the external drive - then remove the upper and lower filters.
