protection error 103

getting an error when installing a program around the registary stage.
running vista premium
program AVS Video Tools

I get a stopped working error for registery. when i press close the program says its finished installing. but i cant get the program to work.
any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to TSF.

I looked up the software that you listed and found two versions - AVS Video Tools v5.5 or v5.6.1.715. It does not really matter which version you downloaded and installed because the product only supports Windows 2000/XP/2003 Server - and not Vista. Knowing of the differences that exist between the Vista NT 6.0 Registry and the XP NT 5.x Registry, I don't doubt that there was a problem with this product.

Given that it is a video product there is a good chance that system settings may have been altered. I would suggest that you perform a System Restore as soon as possible to try and regain the system you had prior to the installation of that program.

START | type system restore in the start search box | select same

It is extremely important that you check prior to downloading and the installation of a software product that you find out about its compatability with Vista.
