4oD

Good afternoon folks,
Have been trying to install 4oD on my Vista basic but it gets right to the end of the install and the I get error 2738
Which is a vbscript runtime custom action error.
I tried downloading NET.FRAMEWORK 3.5 but to no avil. Had a look round the net and found this as a cure.
Would like your thoughts on it before I try it.
Running CMD as Administrator:
cd %windir%\System32
regsvr32 vbscript.dll

BTW 4oD works fine on my XP

Thanks
Ron.

Re: 4oD

Yeah, you can give that a shot if it's not registering the dll; however, I'd try uninstalling the partial install and installing it again making sure that you run the setup as admin.

Re: 4oD

Thank you for your post wboling78.
I think I have tried everything (except what ever it is that is stopping me from getting 4oD)
I have cleared out all the attempts to download 4oD did a System Restore to before I started to try downloading 4oD so my laptop was clear of any other attempts. Uninstalled Java, and reinstalled it, tried again, but again gets to the end and the dreaded 2738 shows it's ugly head
It's a shame I hate to be beaten, but I've spent so much time on this I feel I will have to give in. At least I have it working on my XP.
My hope is that one day some one will come up with the answer.
Thanks for the post M8.
Ron.

Re: 4oD

Wboling78, and all who have been following this thread.
Using the Command Prompt via start accessories run as admin, and the command cd c:\windows\system32
regsvr32 vbscript.dll
You then get a box saying "DllregisterServer in vbscript.dll succeeded"

I then cleared out all 4oD stuff using CCleaner tools (their uninstall is much better than M$ and gets rid of the bits floating around)
Downloaded a fresh 4oD, I this time ignored the 2738 runtime error, and clicked on the desktop icon signed in and away I went, four on demand is mine.
The two main secrets are using the Command Prompt via start accessories run as admin, and the command cd c:\windows\system32
regsvr32 vbscript.dll
and ignore the 2738 runtime error, providing you have registered the vbscript.
But wouldn't you think CH4 would give these instructions on their D/L page?

Ron.
