On the main summary page, there are three categories: System status, network defense, and proactive defense. In the proactive defense category there were around 200 files that were waiting for my review (all windows files). Upon clicking the "waiting for my review" link it takes me to the "my pending files". My question is, will removing any of the files in this area be deleted from my computer or just removed from the page log?

I am not familiar enough with COMODO firewall other than to recall that for me it caused problems by preventing certain system services to execute as access was denied. If the files that you are referring to are in fact system files, you do not want to delete them. If +/-200 system files came up in a virus scan, something is seriously wrong. You may want to process one file and see what happens to it. Be sure to first jot down its file attributes. After processing it with COMODO, try performing a search to find it. regards. . . jcgriff2

Re: Comondo firewall
I had two issues with Commodo. The first was when I first set up Vista. The firewall somehow blocked the permission to change any and all desktop backgrounds. All I got was a black screen.
System Restore fixed that. The second, and IMHO huge issue. I also had all these pending files...like almost 1800 of them. I tried to do an COMODO update, which appeared to be successful and eliminated the pending files. Everything was running smoothly, asking and granting permissions. Suddenly, software and my two browsers were blocked. Things were shutting down before my eyes. Task Manager was blocked. Then EVERYTHING was totally blocked, I lost permission to use the computer. COMODO blocked my ability to use System Restore and Shut Down. I got System Restore to work in Safe Mode. Needless to say, COMODO is no longer on my compter. (BTW, I also had to manually remove it from Program Files.)

Re: Comondo firewall
Its COMODO, not COMONDO :)
And I run it on my Vista system without any problems. It's solid and very secure. However, you will find inexperienced users complaining about it because they don't have the experience or knowledge to understand all of COMDODO's features. COMODO is an advanced Firewall and that's why newbies and inexperienced users complain about using it. But I would strongly suggest you use it and get familiar with it. Learn about it a little bit each day. And in no time you will be very experienced in it and what it does. Those pending files can be "removed" in there safely. It does not physically remove the files form your system. These pending files are just telling you that COMODO is not sure what those files are. So you can remove them from your system, or send them to COMODO for analysis or just remove them from the list because you know those files are safe. Use the purge button to clean the list of deleted files after reviewing. Last edited by truthseeker : 03-08-2008 at 03:08 PM. |

Re: Comondo firewall
Hi. . . Here are a few happier people now that COMODO is out of their system and is now dead but not yet buried. I am one, who after many months, finally got that God-awful product out of my system. Take a look at the screen shot in the second thread from this laptop. Post-installation COMODO, every time that I went to change file permissions, COMODO would try to re-install itself from a TEMPORARY user directory via commands planted in the Vista NT Registry. There is no reason that an uninstalled product should leave remains like that - look at the screen shots. Furthermore any product that contains a re-install agent hidden in the Registry in BINARY format - is looking to do one thing - harm you! And, please don't anyone tell me that BINARY format is done to prevent something from taking COMODO out - or at least the option to put itself back in again to "protect me". BULL. If COMODO, The Ukraine, really thinks that BINARY formatting of anything will protect a user, they are sadly mistaken. The bottom line is that a program that I uninstall should be uninstalled. Period. I will defend my position opposite COMODO to high hell and back. Ask this user about COMODO - and how well it was received that she sought help thousands of miles away for a product from her own Continent. [SOLVED] Administration problem . http://www.techsupportforum.com/microsoft-support/windows-vista-support/222821-destinations-disc-where.html truthseeker. . . What can I tell you. Bad night to see this. Regards. . . JC .

I'm sure there are also a lot of people who are happy with Norton :o However, when I grant permissions to applications and all of a sudden the firewall takes over and locks me out, I have to say it's not me, who did NOT do a thing to prompt this bizarre behavior. I really have to wonder why anyone would need such a hard-to-fine tune firewall. ![]() For now, I am happy with the Firewall that came with Vista and VistaFirewallControl.

Re: Comondo firewall
TS, it seems you liked VFC a month ago.
http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showp...7&postcount=14 What made you change your mind :) And, for you information, I gave no wrong answers. It locked me out after I gave permissions to allowed applications.
